creating a more sustainable life-云顶集团3118acm

we want to inspire and enable as many people as possible to live more sustainably and to make it easy and affordable. we’re also doing our part by transforming the way we work to become circular and climate positive and to have a positive social impact wherever we are in the world.

our aim is to use more renewable and recycled materials, eliminate waste in our operations and change the way we design products and the services we offer to prolong the life of products and see them as resources for the future.

we’ve switched our entire lighting range to energy-efficient led, for example, and all of the cotton we use in our products comes from more sustainable sources. we’re also working towards 100% renewable energy – producing as much as we consume. but we’re not done yet; we’re just getting started...

save money - and make a difference, without leaving your home

at ikea, we have loads of products and solutions to make your home more sustainable, some of them without you even noticing it. you can save lots of energy with our led lamps, induction hobs, fridges, freezers and washing machines, and switching to one of our water-saving taps can reduce your water usage.

good food storage products help prevent waste, and our waste sorting solutions make recycling simple. this may seem like small things, but that’s the beauty of small actions – they all add up.

led bulbs use 85% less energy

we’ve switched our entire lighting range to energy efficient led – one of the ways we are going all-in to tackle climate change.

using resources within the limits of our planet

making more from less is part of the ikea culture. we constantly look for ways to get the most out of every step in our production.

our two biggest raw materials today are cotton and wood, used in many of our products. ensuring that these are sourced and used in a sustainable way is crucial and can make a big difference for our planet.

with cotton, we have already reached one important goal. since 2015, all the cotton we use for ikea products comes from more sustainable sources. this means that the cotton is either recycled, or grown with less water, chemical fertiliser and pesticide, while increasing profit margins for farmers.

when it comes to wood, our goal is to source all of our wood from more sustainable sources by 2020.

cotton and wood from more sustainable sources

all of the cotton we use for our products comes from more sustainable sources. our aim is that by 2020, this will be the case for 100% of the wood we use.

we’ll soon be energy independent!

in 2020, we will produce as much renewable energy as we consume, thanks to huge investments in wind turbines and solar panels.

putting people first

our vision of “creating a better everyday life for the many people” also means to respect and create a better life for people and communities directly influenced by our business. from our co-workers and suppliers, to children and families living in some of the world’s most vulnerable communities – we always strive to promote equality, diversity and respect for human rights in everything we do.

fair conditions and a safe work environment

we want to create a positive social impact for everyone across our value chain and believe that everyone deserves the right to be treated fairly.

one way to ensure this by working closely with our suppliers and through our code of conduct, called the iway standard, plays an important role in these positive developments. it ensures a safe and healthy work environment and prevents pollution to air, ground and water, as well as at least minimum wages and overtime compensation.
